Delta offers passengers their money back after worldwide outage
After Delta’s computer systems went down and halted both national and international flights, Delta has offered to give its passengers a refund.
On its website, Delta announced that from August 8, 2016, to August 12, 2016, passengers can either get their money back or book a new flight, free of charge.
Delta’s statement reads as follows, “If your flight is canceled or significantly delayed, you are entitled to a refund. Even if your flight is not canceled, you may make a one-time change to your ticket without fee if you are rescheduled to travel to, from, or through the following destination (s) on Delta.”
Delta tweeted out that although there are still some delays and cancellations, flights had resumed and approximately 1700 departures had taken place since 1:30PM.
The company also tweeted that a “$200 travel voucher” would be given to passengers whose wait times were three hours or greater and whose flights were cancelled.
On the behalf of Delta Airlines, COO Gil West issued an apology to all those who were affected by the worldwide outage.
West said, “We’re sorry for what customers are experiencing as we work to get our operation back on track.”
Delta Airlines is based in Atlanta, Georgia. According to the company’s website, Delta Airlines offers flights in 335 locations on all of the major continents.
Antarctica is the only continent where Delta Airlines doesn’t offer flights to or from.
Delta has greater than 15,000 flights departing on a daily basis, and Delta has over 180 million passengers per year.
